OpenPro: Open's Big Brother |
The community has spoken and we listened. Psystar is reorganizing our line of consumer PCs and now we're unveiling our new machine: the OpenPro. The OpenPro has a new look and more power to match. With a slick full-sized ATX case and Intel Core 2 Quad processors the OpenPro is locked and loaded. The name "Open" has been selected to reflect the fact that ANY consumer operating system can be installed and run on it. Not only is it bigger and better but it's even more customizable.

The OpenPro features a full-sized case made of steel for a high-quality server-case feel. The case door opens 270 degrees and features audio and I/O ports on the front of the case for accessibility when it comes to plug and play devices. Three 120mm fans keep the OpenPro cool and quiet without having the processor go on a performance diet. A beefy 600watt power supply unit keeps the OpenPro geared up and ready to compute at all times. With the OpenPro you can get a 10,000RPM SATA drive. The performance-hungry will appreciate the accelerated Read/Writes and not mind the slight bit of extra noise. For those who would use their OpenPro primarily for audio/visual, a 750GB 7200RPM hard drive will fit the bill but for those who can't have enough storage space Psystar offers a titanic 1TB hard drive. The OpenPro now comes with more choices. You can have Ubuntu linux preinstalled (7.10 Gutsy Gibbon until the release of 8.04 Hardy Heron is tested) which is a great operating system comprised of free software (in the sense of the Free Software Foundation as well as free in the sense of money) which we at Psystar enjoy using. You can get a fully-functional and very powerful box from Psystar without having to pay a cent more than what it would cost without an operating system.
