The Cisco 7940 is a great small-business phone for the company that needs to project the enterprise image. Traditionally Cisco phones work best with Cisco's Unified Communications systems and subsequently they will only support Power over Ethernet (PoE) from Cisco switching hardware and will behave idiosyncratically when not used with their proprietary SCCP system.
